    Flexwatt is going to be way cheaper than a heating pad. For a foot of the biggest size (roughly the same size as a large zoomed heating pad), you'll pay 7-15 dollars for everything to set it up (not including t-stat, which costs the same regardless). For bulk setups like making a rack, paying 20+ dollars for each heating pad just isn't practical, not to mention the jumble of cables you end up with. If you only have a single tank to heat, you won't see any husbandry differences, since they're basically the same thing, and going either way would be perfectly fine.

    I mention price, but I should also mention that shipping from the website I order from is rather expensive, so unless you do need it in bulk or can find a supplier that doesn't insist on overnight premium shipping, a pet shop heating pad might actually be more practical for your situation.
