I need help making a decision!

Hey all. I'm pretty new to this forum and I need help making a decision. I want to get my first giant snake. I've had everything from corn snakes and ball pythons all the way to a 9 1/2 ft BCO. I really want to get an anaconda because I think they are just so fascinating but I can't decide whether to get a female yellow or a male green because I am not really looking for a snake over 13 ft. Darn.. a buddy of mine has a green and a yellow. He got them before the Lacey act took effect. Does that mean he is illegally possessing them?

I would assume so, unless there is a grandfather clause in the NJ state law, so tell him not to do anything stupid like post pictures of them on his Facebook.

Also the NJ state law has nothing to do with the Lacey Act, that is a federal law.

Yup, lacey act is a federal law that bans international/interstate shipping. That would be a state law, and the only way he can legally own one is if they were once not illegal and he had it at that point and was grandfathered in as bcr229 stated above.

Not sure on the laws in NJ, but IMO a retic or burm is a better choice for a first giant snake.
