    New member of the family.

So I woke up this morning a for some odd reason decided to get on craighist and the very first post was "Free to good home, can't care for'. So I made the call and drove a hour and a half and picked him up. I know I'm kinda new this but I think I have it figured out. And after seeing how hr was being kept I don't think I could do any worse. I think I saved this guys life. So it's snake #2 for me. I'll keep you posted!

This is what he was kept in. Regular light bulb and no other heat source

For signs of R.I you need to monitor his behaviour and keep an eye out for odd behaviour.

Also make sure you practice good quarantine - it's a good habit to start early as it can save you from a world of hurt in the future.

Regular light bulb is fine as long as the ambient temps in the enclosure were mid 80's or thereabouts.

Just keep the new snake in a separate room...use something like GermX before and after handling, which you should be doing any time

Re: New member of the family.

I live in a smaller house and can't keep him in a separate room. As for the heating and light, should I not put a UTH in with him? Right now I have a ceramic bulb heating the tank. He is acting pretty good. He is out moving around and exploring. I slowly put my arm in to place a hide and he hissed at me once but was then fine. I'm just want wats best for him and make him comfortable.
