I'd agree with your reasons.
The only thing that draws me towards pythons / boas would be the head. The shape of the head makes a world of difference for me. When there is no jaw line and head just blends into the body turns me away. But, I love my king snake. She's a lot more fun to handle and less intimidating to non-snake keepers.
