Ambient heating issue
I am concerned about ambient temperatures. My apartment does not have air conditioning and the room gets up to 88-89F daytime and 81-84F nighttime. I've turned down my hot spot but I still find my snakes coiling their water bowls on the cool side - which usually has a temperature of 85F.
I am wondering if I should turn off the hot spot and rely on ambient heating for a while or should just turn down their hot spot more. I have had success with keeping my snakes at ambient heating in the past.

If it gets that hot in your house you shouldnt need additional heat except with ambient changes in temp. What are your sources of heat?

The racks are heated with heat tape.

I would turn off the heat tape and see how that affects the ambient temps in your rack. Do you have a thermostat for the heat tape? You could try reducing the heat with the thermostat and see how that affects the temps.

Yes, it is hooked up to a thermostat and I have already reduced the heat from 90F to 88F but it still seems to hot. I will try unplugging it for a while.

Yeah man give that a go and then post back in a day or two with your results. I hop that turning off the heat tape helps with your heat issue.

Where are you measuring the thermostat and how are you measuring inside the tubs?

I have a digital probe set up and use a temp gun.

What kind of digital probe do you have?
