Re: Why is my BEL stripey?
Sorry, I should have correctly explained that information. I believe it was in a conversation with Bob Clark over email while discussing my lesser. But it's been quite awhile since then so I couldn't give you a date.
In any case, the entire Mojave, lesser, bel project is a little subjective because so many of them vary. I'll be sure to read the link when I'm back on my computer Controversy is always interesting.

Okay, so you've heard that, too. I am not crazy, haha. The potential is so boundless with bels, lessers and mojaves. I love the touch of color from lesser x lesser and mojave x mojave. Well any touch of color is just as beautiful as the lack there of in my opinion.
I hope it all gets figured out, who knows Dr. Del, perhaps you have a very unique bel Can't wait to see belly pictures. As for the baby's eye, I did notice that I hope it's just a really neat iris and nothing too serious!

Just seeing that snake I first thought white diamond or phantom lesser. Both tend to have a yellow dorsal. Looking at the parents, neither look like a russo, so is there a chance one of them is a phantom or other gene in the BEL complex? I'm not well versed with IDing most of them. I guess the test would be to breed to a super mojave, if just white snakes pop out, then guess you have the most yellowed out super lesser I have ever seen, if something else pops out, then guess it's another BEL gene.
Anyone saying white diamonds are the whitest BEL really makes me wonder if they have actually seen one... I've seen quite a few in real life and not a single one was pure white, all had a yellow dorsal of some extent. Also I have seen more yellowed out lesser/mojave than super lessers, I would personally say you still have a better chance with super lessers for pure white, but neither guarantees pure white.

I should have put a few question marks at the end of my comment...never seen one in person that I recall...Lesser x Lesser always looks whitest to me in person and in pics, but seems like White Diamond is always talked about as being the whitest...

I've seen that repeated all over the place and never understood it, as you can see someone popular did a good job of up talking them: https://web.archive.org/web/20110823...leucistic.html but from what I've seen are just a step above super mojaves.
While I was on the internet time machine, I saw yellow striping is referenced here also: https://web.archive.org/web/20110822...blue-eyed.html

Can't get any whiter than my super lesser/butter male, and the male he produced last season. I told the buyer that the hatchling would get whiter as he grow. I believe he thought I was crazy because it was already white, but he had that very slight pink hue.I should be able to compare the white on the super fire in 3mo.
I don't believe that striping is very common. Looks like something else going on .
