Okay, I'd like some opinions again, because the injury looks weird, and I'm not sure if it's normal. My first thought was that it's somehow gotten dirty, or it's possibly scale rot? But I'm not sure how either of those would be possible, as he's on newspaper, and we've been really careful to keep him and his bin clean and dry.
He's still eating great (we're offering weekly, and he hasn't missed a meal since he shed on 6/13), and he's acting normally. He doesn't flinch when we touch the injured scales, but this afternoon when we got him out, the injured area looked really gray. We have one Acurite digital thermometer/hygrometer between the three BPs (all three are in identical setups in the same rack), and the humidity is reading 57% right now. He's still on newspaper, and we've been really careful to change his paper ASAP whenever he gets it wet.
Is it just new scales growing, or should we be concerned?
Because the older pictures are on the previous page, here they are again.
When we first noticed the injury (5-6 weeks ago):

Right after he shed (picture is from about 2 weeks ago):

I've seen BPs with black marks that obviously weren't part of their pattern but were discolorations caused by scars. My guess is that is what is happening.

Thank you! That makes sense. I think I've seen some scars that were dark, but I didn't expect such a rapid change.
