Need to vent!

So I just called Pro- Products to order an RHP for my neonate GTP enclosure....(its hard white plastic and similar to a exo terra in appearance).

I thought I was calling to order a simple RHP...instead I get a 15 minute lecture on how this guy (dont remember his name) is one of the oldest GTP keepers in the US and has been keeping them longer than anyone else....he then tries to convince me I DONT need a RHP for my neonate enclosure and should just buy the biggest sized RHP I will need for the adult GTP enclosure instead (I am building a 36x36x32 enclosure)...Meanwhile I am going off what the GTP breeder (Ryan Burke, who is an amazing guy!) and Greg Maxwell both recommend.

The Pro products dude then asks about how I keep my other snakes (8 AP T8s for the BPs and 2 vision 422s for the SD/D retics) controlled by 2 Herpstat 4's and using Reptile Basics THG heat tape....he proceeds to tell me I'm wrong and that my entire collection is at severe risk for catching fire and burning down.

It was everything I could do to not tell him F OFF and hang up on his ass.....I finally was like "are you going to sell me a RHP for my GTP or not?" after that it was finally business.

Thoughts? Opinions? Am I wrong for being a bit pissed off right now?

Yes, I would be PO'ed. Next time order from Reptile Basics, they are awesome.

Well first question is why would you still buy from him?
Second question is was he offering advice and you took it wrong?
I wasn't on the phone so I can't say.
What I can say is if you are right, I would rub two sticks together before
buying anything from him.
So yes I would be ticked but wouldn't have listened for fifteen minutes .
I also would call rbi, I have five of their thermostats and would think the
rhp would work equally well.

He was obviously trying to sell you more than what you needed I do sales so I understand attempting a slight upsell like offering additional items but to go as far as trying to scare you into thinking your snakes were in danger with their current set up was out of line like bcr stated next time use reptile basics and save yourself the headache!

This guy also send emails to people about how Reptile Basics RHPs are a huge hazard and will burn down your house. He has really crappy business tactics so I personally stay away from his stuff.

He claims his products are UL certified but I still haven't found any of his products on the UL website.

If you want to see how shady this guy is, look up the Pro Products lawsuit vs Black Knight. He sued a company on false basis to put them out of business so he can sell his product without competition.

Well this is all knew to me. I emailed them all the info about my cage/housing/reptile and they recommended the heat panel I needed. I ordered it, it came in 2 days. Set it up & it works perfectly. It would be nice to know who you were talking to though. Many people on the forum have ordered rhp's and have never had any trouble. Maybe you were talking to some jerk employee & not Bob. I wouldn't right off pro-product. I'd just email them instead. Or you can go with reptile basics, they have great rhp's too. It's all about what you prefer. Kinda like Herpstat/Vivarium Electronincs. Some prefer one over the other, but the both get the job done. It's just nice getting a custom rhp for you specific conditions from over 200 different rhp's instead of trying to figure out which one would work best out of 5 rhp's. But that's just me. Anyway I'm sorry you had such a bad experience, I'd give them another try though. They aren't so big & bad as they seem.

I have tried the email route one 3 seperate occasions, describing my room, temps, setups, animals I'm keeping and have yet to get a response from them.
