About a year or so ago I realized that my love for snakes had become diluted with the desire to make money. I just woke up one day and decided, I'm done. I'm not going to breed anymore and I'm going to sell my entire collection. That being said I'm now down to 2 female Ball Pythons and a handful of babies to sell. Once they are gone I'll be starting construction on my pet boa's new enclosure and this thread will be devoted to that. I have a room that I currently use for my snakes that is insulted floor, ceiling and all the walls. I'll be using that for Chesters roomI'll have a couch in there, and maybe a TV, but the focal point will be Chester's new home!! SO! His enclosure will be roughly (I have to measure to get exact dimensions) 5 feet wide x 3 feet deep x 6' high. I'm going to fully water proof the area (similar method used to installing a shower). I'm going to install a misting system (probably mist king) that will be connecting to a hygrostat. For heating I'll likely using radiant heat panels mounted to the ceiling, but have not decided 100% on the heating method I'm going to use.
For now I'm trying to decide what to fill the enclosure with. I'm thinking that the main structure inside will be a tree, something native to central america. I'll make the frame out of PVC and then wrap it with wire, cement and then epoxy/paint the whole thing. I've seen a few videos of people who've made large enclosures using a similar method, and I'm going to do my best to copy them!
Has anyone else built a large natural looking habitat for their Boa's? I'd love to see ideas!!
