Heat tape in rack
I ordered a animal plastic cb70 and got the 3 inch belly heat as the option. I'm wondering since my house can stay a little cool sometimes, should I request them to widen the slots so I can fit 4 or 6 inch heat tape? Or is 3 inch enough... Let me know what's the best! Thanks

I just feel like 3 inches for a whole v70 tub is to small maybe I'm wrong though....

Would the 6 inch 12 watt thg heat tape be okay for the v-70 tubs?

You'd be surprised how warm that 3" tape can make it. My apartment gets cool in the winter and my Helix holds temps just fine.

It depends on the size of the tubs. I am not familiar with the size as I built mine. I used 6 inch thg and I have 41 qt tubs I would go with 4 inch if that's the largest option. I also use a herpstat 4 for my stat.

Does it create a large enough hot spot for large females though? I'm just confused on what to get so many people use different sizes and my house also gets down to the 67-70 range in winter.

The tub size is 34" 17.5" x 5.3" and AP said they can fit any size I just need to tell them before it's manufactured.

That's basically the size of my tubs and I opted for a larger hot spot for a bigger area of heat. It just gives them a bigger area to stay warm as they grow.

One last fact.....You can always down size the tape once you get it. If you order 3 inch and then want 6 inch......NOT GONNA HAPPEN.

Heat tape is for a hot spot, not ambient temps, you will probably need to heat the room regardless.

I live in an older apartment, and have had problems maintaining proper temps at times during the winter months ( I also have 3" tape)
A friend told me to insulate the back of my rack with Reflectix. Best thing I ever did.
