Yeah I went through the genetic calculator you recommended last night and the lesser female is definitely going to be the first one I pick up to breed, there are just so many awesome options with her. And where this is more of a long term plan I'll have some time on choosing a male anyways as she's only young so I can just wait for the right one to come along while I'm growing her up, especially where she needs so much more time than a male will. Thanks again for all the advice

I think the only trick now will be keeping the collection "small" like I want to, I can see this getting away from me once I get going

I started with one baby Normal as a pet for my son. Two years later we are full blown breeding with ~70 bp's in the collection!!

I'm in the same boat! I started out with one ball python and now I'm hooked. I've had some misteps (like having a bunch of males before I have any females) but I'm having fun, and that's the important part. Best of luck to you!

I'm in a similar situation to you.. I want to breed just for "fun" later on. Right now, I just want to keep and enjoy some nice BPs as they grow. I'd suggest getting the nicest examples of the morphs you want. You may pay more, but starting with quality base morphs will help you produce quality later on. They'll also be nicer to look at.

I was lucky and managed to get a two gene female as my first (pastave). Just for kicks and giggles, I put in a few different 2 gene males into the morph calculator and it's amazing how many possibilities starting with 2, 2-gene animals would give me. (I'm thinking either a pastel, enchi, or fire lesser male). However, others advised me (and it's true)..A great looking single gene might be of more value than a so-so double gene.

    Good luck!
