Thanks very much everyone. I like the sound of removing the hides when the animal is big enough for the drawer.
Im going to build another rack in about a month with more opaque drawers so then only the males will be in clear tubs.
Thanks again!

I always provide hides. If they don't use them, there's nothing lost.

Some use them some don't, can't hurt to provide it.

I've got females in the 350-600 gram range in V70 tubs with no hides. Because it's a fully enclosed rack I've never had a problem with them going off food, even when I first put them in and some were around 230g range. When I get my reptile room I'll probably be getting taller and not enclosed racks so I figure hides will more than likely need to be used for some.

I agree, eventually when I purchase a CB70 tub system for my adults, I will re provide hides because they'll have room to move around, and not get themselves wedged between hides. For now, my adults seem fine without hides. They still thermo regulate, and sleep during the day!
Good luck man, I'm glad you got your answers.

for me its easy: in Germany, we have minimum requirements that a BP enclosure needs to fulfill. keeping and breeding BPs is legal and you dont need a permit, if you follow the rules. and one thing these rules say is that there has to be a hide of appropriate size.
