    2 tanks one herpstat?

Hey everyone . Well the addiction is taking hold and I really want a second ball python. I keep my current one in a 40 breeder fish tank with a herpstat 2 as a thermostat . Is there any way I can run 2 tanks with the one herpstat 2? Thanks

If it is controlling the *exact* same size and wattage of heat tape or heat mat, yes. Plug the t-stat into the wall, a powerstrip into the t-stat and the UTH into the power-strip.

If they are NOT exactly the same, this is dangerous and problematic, but you can control them both with one thermostat if they ARE the same.

Ok thanks . If I do go thru with this I will be making the new tank an exact copy equipment wise so that helps a bunch.

    Re: 2 tanks one herpstat?

I have a Herpstat 2 as well and it's heating one of my enclosures and a rack system. Are both of the outlets for your Herpstat two taken with the one tank? The Herpstat 2 is two individual thermostats in one so whatever two items your plugging into it's two outlets don't need to be exactly the same. This would only be the case if you were trying to run say 4 different things on the Herpstat 2 then everything would need to be exactly the same. But the thermostat only really needs to control the heat element (either heat mat/heat tape/etc.) so you could still plug in two tanks to the Herpstat two. Sorry I'm just confused about how you have everything setup lol.

Sorry I should have specified my setup a bit in the original post. The probes are hooked up to two different under tank heaters in a 40 breeder . What would be the best way to split the herpstat between two tanks ? Thanks

Ohhhh okay I get it now! So your Herpstat 2 is already controlling two heating elements on your tank. I think the best way to split the thermostat between two tanks would be to order some heat tape to the length that you would need instead of using two separate uth's. Then that will free up a spot for the next tank. this is what I did with my 40 tank. Is there any reason your using two uth's?

    Re: 2 tanks one herpstat?

I had previously used a heat lamp to get the warm side where it needed to be so I replaced it with another Uth . Hated looking at that stupid lamp Thanks
