Am I the only one who noticed he said thermostat from PETSMART? What kind of even semi-reliable thermostat can be purchased from there?

I would invest in a good quality thermostat. I have a few HerpStats and I've never had any problems.

Hope he pulls through for you.

Herpstats have a high and low temp alarm setting, or at least mine does.

yeah i did think the one from petsmart would be good. all i knew from my research was a thermometer wasnt enough, i needed a thermostat. so when i got his equipment at petsmart (not him, just his equipment, he was from a mom and pop shop) thats the only one they had. it might work and i didnt have it set up properly, but i am not taking that chance. i mean, how could i, you know? i have another thread asking for thermostat recommendations, so i can have a variety to look at and pick the one that works best for what i need. im also considering moving him to a tub set up. my female thrives in the tank, never had a bad shed, never turns down a meal, etc. but with him, he has never had a good shed, despite misting, putting the moss in his tank, etc. so i think in the long run, a tub would be better for him. we'll see.

thanks again everyone for all of your help! i hope that soon i will be posting a recovery success story!

    Re: PLEASE HELP!!! scales

I had a belly burn happen about 20 years ago to my Burmese. A trip to the vet, and some medicine via shots to the muscle next to his backbone every day, and he was fine. It did leave a scar though. Keep your appointment, and your snake should be fine, if that's all it is. My snake was 11 feet at the time and required 2 people to deliver the shots, it wasn't fun.

any shot to a snake is gonna be much easier with two people, size nonwithstanding. (although definitely more important/mandatory the larger the snake.)

This is a PET store for you! simple as that, They are all uneducated idiots who think they know stuff, I was there to Play stupid one day and asked about purchasing a heat rock for my hot spot vs a heat pad and they gentleman said "Yea as long as the snake can coil or wrap it thats a perfect thing, and they dont need any temp control they dont get to hot" Well i walked away and laughed at that 1.
