Is this normal?
I picked up my ball's hide to take her out and it smelled nasty. I look all around trying to find the source til I look in my hand. She had pooped in her hide and had been lying against it; it was squished in the hide. It wasn't there yesterday and looked new. Is it weird she did it in her hide and then stayed in it? Also, is there anything you can use to "clean" a snake that is safe for their scales? She's stinky. Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

They aren't like cats where they'll go in a specific area. They just do what they gotta do, when they gotta do it! Which is why it is important to spot clean. Left too long on damp/wet ground can cause scale rot.
Just get a piece of damp paper towel (or a towel) and get the snake to slither through it in your hands; poop will come right off. Some people give them little baths - by this, I mean with 80F water, no soap... obviously.
But, this can be stressful for snakes.
If they are like COVERED in poop, then you may want to try a little bath. But otherwise, I'd just kind of lightly rub it off with a damp cloth, as mentioned above.

It hadn't been there long and was not stuck to her just made the spot where she was touching it stink. I cleaned the hide thoroughly and just ran a wet paper towel in that spot. Answers my question though. Thanks .

Re: Is this normal?
my big girl will just let loose in her hide and sit in it til I clean her up, and has done it the last 5 movements she's taken. they are like babies, but even more helpless because they don't have arms...

Its a common occurrence in my house.. and the snakes do it too.. Ha.. But seriously, yeah, its not unusual for that to happen. I give my snake tanks the visual and the smell test every day and if I smell something foul but cant see it, its guaranteed to be in their hide. I wish I could train them to poop in one spot. ha ha. I would make millions!! "Tarzan - The Snake Whisperer".. LOL..

Yes it is. A couple of mine do their business in their hides. I try to pick them up every so often just to make sure they aren't laying in it lol.

The worst (I think) is when they pass urates in their shed box... then the moss just sucks it up and it stays damp... and you might not notice...

You can also use non scented baby wipes to wipe her down.
If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies.
