I have to say meeting my husband and him finding out I was cool with reptiles started our addiction. He had reptiles before we met and liked to tell me stories about them. One day I said it'd be cool to go to a local reptile show. I brought home my first corn snake. Soon I had up to 10 corn snakes. Then I started looking at ball pythons. Next came the bearded dragons and crested geckos. And that was just for me. Husband loved uromastyxs so he started getting some of them plus a sulcata tortoise. Add in a couple tokay geckos, gargoyle geckos, chameleons, and breeding rats and asfs to feed all of them. Lets just say we went a little over board. Some changes in our lives made the decision for us to reduce our collection to what we have now. Which is nothing compared to what it was. But with our latest bp and getting back on this forum hopefully we won't go over board again. Here is to hoping.

Oh my God, I'm not the only one!
The crappiest thing though is when you not only have too much free time, but can't get any more reptiles for a while. It's like a vampire who has a growing hunger for blood, yet no victims to drink from... (Skyrim reference, anyone?)

    Re: Reptiles Anonymous

I'm totally sick with it. As of tomorrow I'll be up to seven BPs. I have two citrus ghost vanillas coming tomorrow that my hubby doesn't know about. I can't stop myself from looking at beautiful snakes and researching husbandry and breeding. I have to stop buying for a little while. I'm going broke! But I love all my precious babies and they add so much to the household.

I spend hours and hours with my BP. When he's in one of his hides, I'll still just sit in front of the cage. He'll often reward my devotion with a periscope or two....
