Re: Built my first incubator! (Pic heavy) A few questions

Ok I think I was opening the egg box too much. Checking temps yesterday. Lol I thought they were higher. A couple hours later it was air temp of 88-88.5 in the egg tub and 89-90 in the cooler. Today the egg tub is 88-89.

The substrate temp is lower which is odd. I have to go find vermiculite anyways I won't be using coco husk for the substrate. Just wanted to get an idea how everything was running.

Built my first incubator! (Pic heavy) A few questions

Well no Lowes here in Timmins but Home Depot we have. Canadian Tire might too. Monday when I am off I'll pick some up.

Some people place their t-stat probe in the egg box, careful with that as toward the end of incubation eggs generate heat, which would make the t-stat run the temps cooler for the other tubs. (not by much but still)

I place my t-stat in a dummy tub, it is set like an egg box but does not have eggs in it, I tape both thermometer and t-stat probe on the lid of the tub.

I take temps measurement in two places at all time but also use a temp gun if checking clutches.

Very impressive build Deborah. Gotta expand my incubator capacity next year when the bulk of my females are of age. Itake it from the photo that you don't use a separate controller for each compartment right?

Thanks , no there is one thermostat with the probe in the tub located in the middle, and I measure the temps on the top and at the bottom (the probes is in the tubs and the display are on the outside of the incubator)
