When I was stationed in Virginia we regularly had one type of event or another that caused us to lose power. I developed an emergency kit that came in handy on more than one occasion. I even used it when I had to bug out of my apartment and move into a hotel room for a few days due to a fire in an adjacent building.
1) Iris MCB-L tub with lid - vent holes pre-cut
2) Several 40 Hour heat packs (think I got them from RBI?)
3) Snake bag for each animal I owned
4) Binder clips to secure the tub's lid
5) Small fleece blanket for packing material
6) Duct tape...because duct tape makes everything better
When I had a power outage, each of the kids would go in a separate bag, the bags would go in the bin, and I would duct tape heat packs to the outside of the bin. Used my infrared temp gun to monitor the temps inside the tub. Great thing about this set up was that I could have it packed and ready to roll in 5 minutes. I'm sure I did it in a lot less than that the night of the fire.![]()
