Aquarium Bubble Stone. They are originally for a fish tank but I put them in the water dish and it rises the humidity way up! You can get them at walmart for about 2 dollars. You will have to buy the clear tube and an air pump. I got all the stuff at walmart too (You can get them at a pet store, but it will be more expensive...). The air pump was the most expensive thing and I got the quieter one for $14. I got this whole set up for $18. I just got it today and my humidity is up at 90%! You will have to drill a small hole in the side to get the tube in.
That's an awesome idea!

Thanks! But I didn't come up with the idea.. but so far the only problem I have discovered is it uses up a lot of your water from your water bowl... So what I do is only run it for 10-20 mins every 2 days... (Still experimenting). Since mine is in a tub it holds humidity for awhile. Its a lot more convenient for when your gone for a long time too.

My BRB's have two bowls, one on the warm side, one on the cool side. So even if the one with the bubble stone goes dry they would still have water.
I was researching the stones and the biggest complaint seems to be that they float. Have you had that problem?

This is a good thread and a neat idea.. I've used many airstones in fishtanks and they do float. You can buy suction cups that clip to the airline tubbing and use that to attach, but it doesn't work great. In my fishtanks, I'd always weight them down under stones or wood to secure them.

Re: BRB setup
I wonder if it is safe to epoxy the stone to the bottom of the water bowl?

Hmm.. Not sure. The stones tend to get "icky" within a few months, so it would have to be replaced occasionally. It might be easier to silicon it to a rock (that can be sanitized) and put it in the bowl..That way it could be taken out and cleaned.

Re: BRB setup
Good idea, or maybe use a rubber band to tie it to the rock

Re: BRB setup
All set up and stabilized. Hot and cool side good and humidity holding at 89%. I'm using paper towels, humid hide (hot side), bowl hide (cool side), large water bowl half on the heat. Looks like I'm ready! Snake should be delivered this week
