    Our Second BP...Meet "Walter"

    Hey everyone!

So, My girlfriend and I got our first Reptile and our first BP July 2013, She was a Spider Ball and was about a year old. We love her to death and she is literally like a princess.
So after a while of really getting a big love for reptiles of all kinds (we both wanted a snake for years but never had the chance until we got our own place.)
We always talked about getting more snakes for the past few months and I saw an ad up on Kijiji for a Lesser Pastel for $40 with everything included. I was interested in finding out more right away! Emailed the owner and in about a week we decided to take the chance and see about him. The owner was moving and needed to make room but we were both incredibly nervous. We originally planned on getting it next week but we decided to make the run to pick him up.
Fast-Forward to Today...We woke up around 9am, drove 2 hours to [possibly] pick up this snake. We got there and we could tell he wasn't in the best conditions. He had about 5-6" of substrate covering his entire bottom of the tank so his UTH was completely useless. The top screen was falling apart and being held together with stickers, and he looked to only have one light, which was a 50w basking spot day bulb and one massive hide thats even a little too big for our big 1000gram Spider Ball (makes the Pastel look tiny) He was rarely handled and was extremely cold when we handled him. But none the less, decided to pay the $40 and pick him up.
We loaded everything into my trunk, and put him in a container with some of those hand warmer packets and a shemagh for him to lay in, Covered him in a coat to give him some darkness and relax on the long drive home.

First stop on the way home was our local pet store, the manager is very knowledgable of Reptiles and has been breeding snakes for a while, so whenever we have a question or want a checkup we bring them to him as we have no reptile vets (closest being 3 hours min.) He gave him a perfect bill of health besides the stuff shed and being a bit on the thin side (both we can fix.) We spent $150 at the pet store (would have been about 180 but manager gave us a discount) purchasing him a new proper fitting hide, and proper lighting, new substrate, screen top, all the important stuff.
We meticulously cleaned all of his terrarium decor and the terrarium 2-3 times before setting everything up again at my parents place for his 30d quarantine. Filled it all up and he seems to be happier and curious than when we picked him up.

Haven't weighed or measured him yet but we are very excited to have him join us at home when his 30 days is up in "jail" Here is a link to a few pictures of him.
The setup he is now is temporary and his terrarium at home plans on being much better. We plan on switching out Hydro/Thermo Stats to Electric within a month once we get more money. Need to get those electric stats and some more light fixtures, besides that their terrariums are perfect.

Anyways, figured i'd share our newest little family member and share the story a bit!

Yeah, I must not have mentioned that. The ad said Lesser Pastel but it wasn't.
Thought I mentioned it but might have just thought about saying it... lol
