So I know its bad to cook a rat before you feed it to your BP but why is it bad?

Re: cooked rat and why its bad?
The cooking process destroys a lot of the essential nutrients needed for a balanced diet.
For example, if you boil chicken, the nutrients leave the meat and are in the broth instead.

exactly that. especially some vitamins get lost due to heat degradation.
also the rat will explode upon constriction and thats not pretty.
The Big Bang almost certainly (beyond reasonable doubt) happened 13.7 billion years ago. If you disagree, send me a PM.
Evolution is a fact, evolutionary theory explains why it happens and provides four different lines of evidence that coalesce to show that evolution is a fact. If you disagree, send me a PM.
One third of the global economy relies on technology that is based on quantum mechanics, especially quantum electrodynamics (electron-photon or electron-electron interactions). If you disagree, send me a PM.
Time Dilation is real, it is so real that all clocks if they are precise enough can measure it, and GPS could not possibly work without it. If you disagree, send me a PM.
The 4 philosophically most important aspects of modern science are: Evolutionary theory, Cosmology, Quantum mechanics, and Einsteins theory of general relativity. Understand these to get a grip of reality.

Cooked rat is a terrible smell, I can smell it in my head from my newbie days. You definitely perfect a routine for thawing that will avoid that smell at all costs!

Not speaking from reptile experience per se but rather from cell biology background? Extreme heat (much higher than body temp) denatures proteins and changes their structure and physical/chemical properties. That could be why it makes the nutrients in the cooked rodent useless to the snake, but that would be speculation on my part.

It's not that bad...just as long as you serve it with some fava beans and a nice chianti.

I don't think reptiles can digest cooked food.

Is this true?

Re: cooked rat and why its bad?
Yes it is. The same way our bodies can't process raw meat efficiently, reptiles can't handle cooked meat.
