    His jaw can open a lot wider than you think it can. If the rat is as wide as Oliver at Oliver's widest part, the rat will fit down his mouth and through his neck even though it may not look like it will.

    Like Monkee suggested, the earlier you switch the easier it is usually. Oliver can definitely eat rat pups. Depending on his weight and size, he may be able to do weaned rats as well.
