Antarctica has an actual continent under the ice cap so there's a lot more geographically fixed stuff to study (sub glacial lakes, volcanism, meteorite collecting etc.), but since the arctic is floating ice there aren't any permanent stations that I'm aware of. Probably the closest are Nome, AK or Archangelsk, RU which hit 32 and 28 respectively today. So you still win, or lose, still not sure which .
