    Leopard pieds

I've been doing so much research the past several days, and in all honesty have only really found contradictions. I'm hoping to hear from people who have personal experience or have heard from someone who had experience (not friend of a friend type). WOBP is no help.

Is a super leopard and a leopard pied different? What are the differences?

What would you get from a leopard pied X pied breeding?
    What about leopard X pied?
    Leopard pied X normal?

Is every leopard combo het pied?
Females: 0.1 fire; 0.1 sugar; 0.1 GHI; 0.1 pinstripe het desert ghost; 0.1 mojave spider; 0.2 mojave; 0.1 black pewter blast; 0.1 leopard pied; 0.1 champagne; 0.1 pied; 0.1 super pastel lesser; 0.1 pewter; 0.1 spider het pied, 0.1 bumblebee; 0.1 lesser; 0.1 spider; 0.1 normal; 0.3 het pied
Males: 1.0 het desert ghost; 1.0 pastel pied; 1.0 leopard; 1.0 black pastel; 1.0 enchi; 1.0 mojave; 1.0 cinnamon; 1.0 pied; 1.0 vanilla

Other species: 1.0.3 pacman frogs (sunkissed, super apricot, super blue, super lime green); 0.2 crested gecko; 1.0 hypo hog island boa; 0.1 normal boa; 1.0 rottweiler; 1.0 chihuahua

    its complicated.

the thing is, when you have a leopard (codominant/dominant) you get a "het pied" with it for free in 99%+ of the cases.

so a super leopard has 2 copies of leopard, and two copies of het pied. and a leopard pied has 1 copy of leopard and 2 copies of het pied. and a regular piebald has just 2 copies of het pied.

generally you can say (almost?) all leopards are het pied, also in combos. but recently there seems to have been a case where the two genes came apart, it seems like there may now be a line of leopard that is not het pied. which would mean the two genes are almost on the same location of a chromosome, but not quite. but the jury is still out.

Super leopards just need 2x leopard, the pied is just an extra. There has supposedly already been two super leos produced that are not homozygous pieds (im not sure if they are heterozygous) and im also unsure how closely related they are. Also I think it's too soon to really put a number on how often it happens, they used to say 99% about the banana/cg also and now they say its more around 90%. With the linkage alluding us for all these years, you would expect it to be a high number though.

i guess if it proves out, we need to start differentiating between two different kinds of leopard: the one with het pied and the one without het pied.

but i guess for the names to change it will still take a while. if what you say is corrent, then its two super leopards that are not pied versus thousands, maybe tens of thousands, of super leopards that are pied.

I think you're way over estimating the amount of super leopards there are. Can we even account for 50? And there nothing that needs name changing, you have leopards and pieds, call them what they are. If its a super leopard pied, thats what it is, no different than anything else. Just make sure people know that it is not allelic like originally thought. More than likely they are closely linked. Best we can do with the information at hand.

Thank you all for the responses. I was asking because I'm getting a leopard pied this week and was still confused on the workings of the leopard gene and pied gene together
Females: 0.1 fire; 0.1 sugar; 0.1 GHI; 0.1 pinstripe het desert ghost; 0.1 mojave spider; 0.2 mojave; 0.1 black pewter blast; 0.1 leopard pied; 0.1 champagne; 0.1 pied; 0.1 super pastel lesser; 0.1 pewter; 0.1 spider het pied, 0.1 bumblebee; 0.1 lesser; 0.1 spider; 0.1 normal; 0.3 het pied
Males: 1.0 het desert ghost; 1.0 pastel pied; 1.0 leopard; 1.0 black pastel; 1.0 enchi; 1.0 mojave; 1.0 cinnamon; 1.0 pied; 1.0 vanilla

Other species: 1.0.3 pacman frogs (sunkissed, super apricot, super blue, super lime green); 0.2 crested gecko; 1.0 hypo hog island boa; 0.1 normal boa; 1.0 rottweiler; 1.0 chihuahua

I think everyone is still confused on the workings of the leopard gene and pied gene at this point. All that can be proven as of now is that being leopard does not give a 100% chance of being pied. If you're getting a leopard pied obviously all babies will be het pied. If you get a leopard baby it will have to be a leopard het pied since the parent is a visual. I know that's fairly obvious but if you're getting a visual pied the question of hets shouldn't matter.

Oh yes I should have clarified a bit more. I recently acquired a male leopard, and this week will be receiving a female leopard pied. So was just curious how both will be working with my current stock of balls. Very excited to work with the leopard gene.

One of the things I was confused on was I've heard a leopard pied is a super leopard and will produce all leopards. But I didn't think that was true and wanted to have it clarified here
