    Hiding/shedding question!

I've already posted a thread asking some questions and received some very helpful responses. So I'm coming to you guys again. My baby ball python, Capone has been hiding for the past 4-5 days. He doesn't even come out at night like he normally does, I believe he's going into his first shed. His eyes are becoming grey and his skin is dulling out. Anyway my worry is that his skin is getting very wrinkly were he bends and its normally not like that and the fact he's been hiding all day and night for almost a week. I've been keeping his humidity between 60-75%, today I just checked on him and I touched his side and he moved and responded. I'm just afraid he's dehydrated or something, I read on the forum to put a damp paper towel rung out in his hide. So I did that for now. Please I would appreciate any input I could get, am I just being crazy and worried about my snake or could it possibly be a problem?

    Thanks!

Hello, friend! I wouldn't worry too much - wrinkly skin is another sign of an upcoming shed. Keeping your humidity as you have been will be really good for him, and as long as he has stuff to rub on in his enclosure, I expect it'll all come off in one piece. Let us know how it goes.
    let's be friends.

    Re: Hiding/shedding question!

Thank you! Any guess how long this process takes normally, I keep hearing different things. And is the 24/7 hiding, normal?

Hi, a shed lasts about a week. Sometimes less, sometimes more. Hiding is definitely normal until they shed. Just keep your humidity up and he'll shed no problem.

I wouldn't worry much if I were you :-) My ball hides during the whole shedding process and he even sheds in his hides (mostly warm side hide), as I only find sheds in there.
