Here is the deal with "Common" Colombian boas. They really are not common, or necessarily pure Colombian. This, again is from Gus Renfro, whom I feel has about as much boa knowledge as anybody. The locality Colombians Kali mentioned are traced back to the region where they were caught. Those boas were placed in a captive breeding program in which the goal was to keep the lines pure and therefore only bred boas from that area to others from the same area.

Mind you they have been captive bred for several generations, however in theory there was NO mixing or out crossing from the original dam and sire. Unless they used other boas from the same locality.

The "common boa", if not identified as a locality, has more than likely been bred to other subspecies, morphs or whatever and then given birth and maybe crossed back to another "common boa". It's not a bad thing, but it's more than likely what is out there or what most own unless you have credible info from the breeder.

This is why when people ask about their type of boa and, what they have, nobody can really answer the question.

"Looks like a BCI, but I see some BCC." Or "I see some Central American in it, but it has BCC saddles".

This is ABSOLUTELY NOT a knock on anything considered "common". As a matter of fact some of the huge common boas we see probably have been the product of crossing BCC and BCI somewhere in the linage. Morphs are a prime example, they may have started as Colombian then been crossed with a colorful CA. But now what is it??

So when the topic is "locality" the boas really need to be from the area. Nobody mistakes a true Suri with a Hog Island, because a locality breeder's goal is,,, well,, the locality.

Anybody get what I'm saying here?

BTW xFenrir,,, I think your boa is beautiful!
