Reptiles have a neat but annoying ability to hide illnesses until they become a concern. Respiratory infection, IBD, mites, ticks, internal parasites... some of these have external visible signs, many do not.
Quarantine space is an area away from your established snake, ideally on the other side of the house. Keep them seperate for at least three months to make sure there are no issues with your new addition, then you can put them in the divided tank.
