Well let's see, around here on this site, where everyone specifies every little detail, every bit of heat and humidity matters,it will make a big difference...don't be a hypocrite ,guess it's only convenient when ppl just wanna be fussy nitpickers ,like the difference between a $60 pair of crimps as opposed to a $25 pair, right???? Cause a $25 pair of crimps can't be as good as a $60 par, again, right?? That's what I thought...
See how adding the wink face and smiley face made my comment so much nicer, lol

Your welcome man. I had the extra thermostat that's why I mailed it to you,and gave it to you for free ofcourse...just had to throw that out there ( pit, more smile faces)
the hide doesn't stay same as outside temps since it provides shade,so the pad is def a good thing. I leave my UTH matt set at 89-91 .. Glad it's working for you pal

Just because something hasn't happened doesn't mean it can't or won't happen. It's just safer not to have any adhesive inside the cage, just to be on the safe side. Why even take the risk when there is a safer alternative? Just because you have been doing something for four months, doesn't make you an expert. I have seen you twice use this particular time frame to imply that you have been doing something for "four months" and it's "not broken" so it must be right.....?
I have only been keeping ball pythons for 1 1/2 years, and in no way form or fashion do I consider my self an expert. What I have simply done, during my short time of keeping snakes, is to use the information that has been provided to me, and used common sense to try and provide the best habitat possible. Will a tiny piece of tape on the side ever cause harm to your snake, maybe it won't, maybe it will, but why even take the risk? Your ignorance I fear has caused a couple of hi-jacks of an OP's threads and I feel this is a direct result of the information you are posting. It's my honest opinion you are not doing this community any good.

Not to de-rail this thread but seeing that it is on heating and UTH in particular.
I wouldn't want you to think I am a hypocrite I should continue mentoring you so that you do not continue to be as ignorant and foolish as your posts make you seem, wonder if you are the same in the real world?
Put your money where your loud moth is and post up a link to your $25 crimpers that are capable of doing a proper crimp on THG tape. You should know what items are used to attach the wire, you are a smart guy and know how to google.
If you were smart enough to READY posts you would know that there is a no contact thermometer that is what most people use to check the surface temps of their enclosures. Do you really think I have a thermometer in each tub when there are 31 tubs?
Giving advice is a great thing when you know and have knowledge of the subject at hand.

well, when your snake rolls an edge up on the tape and gets stuck to it, remember that olive oil on a que-tip is a good way to loosen the adhesive on the tape so you don't pull off too many scales. If you have tape inside your enclosure, you'll need this information eventually.

I know that's right! I quit after 5 tubs and went with the infared thermometer.

Indeed the hide does change things - do you know how it changes in regard to overhead heat sources compared to under tank heating? Or a combination of the two?
I'm glad you helped this person out though. It's pretty much all we want this site to do - give good advice to people who need it.

Glad in your whole 4 months of experience your tape hasn't been a problem yet.
In my 20 years experience I can assure you it will be one day.
But hey, I'm sure you know better.
Just remember Mark's advice when the inevitable happens. We will still be willing to help. The snake mainly.
Try the search function once in a while - it will make you a better keeper. Also think about getting a temp gun - it really does make spot checking a whole lot easier.

And aluminum tape is sticky as hell!! I wouldn't even chance that coming in contact with my snake. And I've only been at this a little over a month.
Where's that common sense you speak so much about, NY?
