single-gene axanthics, for example, most often brown out with age. in a perfect world they should stay limited to black, white and grey. add one copy of fire and it wont brown out, the issue is resolved, with fire the axanthics look just like they should all the way into old age. they are really awesome and visually stunning.
some are basically like "het for awesome".
Or add hypo! Obviously I'm biased toward axanthic, but I do think there are certain combos that it really works beautifully with like the true ghost, especially when a pattern morph is put in on top of it. Loved your "het for awesome" comment!
I wasn't really impressed with hypos when I first saw them, I couldn't understand why someone would want a snake that looked like it's always in shed. But in combination with genes that increase yellows or lighten colors, they really do seem to improve with age. I recently saw a juvenile lesser enchi hypo that absolutely blew me away (as did her price tag lol).
