Its not very water resistant and I would seal the hell out of it due to the glues to make it.
I use mdf and keep the lids on the tubs so they are no contact but its a pain to clean and feed.

what did you use to seal your mdf? what thickness did you use? is it sagging? i am building a rack that will hold 67qt tubs and need something that will not sag

Can you use sanding sealer on the mdf if you wanted to seal it? We spray out cages for the humidity and nervous it will warp the mdf even using lids. Could you post a pic off how your rack looks?

I was worried about the first one too so I wrapped it with contact paper...................... NEVER AGAIN!!!!
You shouldn't have to mist your tubs unless you put too many holes in them, I have made it rain in a tub but its all about hole placement
