Questions on my new BP

The stuck shed just sounds like low humidity, as already said possibly not your fault however, as you've had it a short time (and sounds like you are doing some very good things to keep the humidity up with the substrate and misting)!
As everyone has said, make sure to maintain the ambient air temp. at 80F you will notice the BP may be more active as well when this is changed.

Otherwise sounds great (apart from the breeder not responding to your messages...)

Wuss have a 20 gallon long,same as one of my tanks

Thin is what I do to keep it quiet humid


Wett a rag every morning and night,not mist or damp it ,I wett it heavily,but not to where it's dripping in the tank...I also use coco husk and have some sphagnum moss spread through the tank which I wett and pour water on on every few days,keep like 90% of the top covered like in my pics and mist one time a day.my humidity stay accurate!but being it's a tank!I do have to maintain it daily cause I have over head lights which can dry the tank out..

also,mess around with different watt bulbs!if your bulb is too strong it will dry your enclosure it quicker??for a 20 long I'd say a 50 watt or 75 watt is perfect,plus depends on your substrate also..just put a little thought into and mess around, that's how I've got my tank good were they are.take a while sometimes.there is no one right answer.

Not familar with term hot spot... He's in a 20g....getting a bigger tank this weekend...36/12/12

The hot spot is the spot directly above the uth.

I'm not familiar with the "hot spot.. He's in a 20L glass tank, moving upto a 38X18X12..

The hot spot is the area directly above or below the heat source you are using. Does that help?

I only remember as I have one in a viv with a ceramic bulb but my others have heat mats in their tubs

I agree with a previous post (forget who, sorry), that damp rags are hotel rooms for mildew. I find that misting and covering the tank with a dry towel works just fine, Or even better, coating the outside of the screen with tin foil or cling wrap, up to 3/4 of the lid. I'm using one of each method right now, since I haven't wanted to make too many changes to my Pastel's tank until she's more settled in, so she gets the dry towel (which also gives her a little more privacy for settling in.)

Thanks.. I have glass tank 20L - moving up to a 24/18/12 - move floor space... Not sure what you mean by Hot Spot.. I know Hot side 90, cool side 80, humidity 55-60, shed up to 70-75.
