Yup! If we wanted to be in the pit, we would be in it. Don't drag us into it! Most pitters turn tail the second you throw a fist in their face and promptly move to the other side of the pit to hassle someone else. That is why we love venues like the House Of Blues in Cleveland. It has great mezzanine seating that is still close enough to see the band well. The same rules apply to the folks who are in the mezzanine seating who feel the need to stand up and dance, blocking everyone's views. I wasn't the only person to pour beer and nachos onto the heads of the folks at the last concert who wouldn't sit down.

Hey,everyone is entitled to there own opinion. Most I'll say is I'm 5'8" 210 and my boy is 6'1" and 280, at the black N blue bowl of hardcore this past May, I jumped in the Pitt which I rarely do any more, ever !I remember MadBall was playing. My boy on accident back fisted me in the nose,I thought it broke, was dripping blood, took my shirt off, held my nose,it stopped bleeding after so many minutes, bout a new shirt and jumped right back in,I just was feeling pumped..I can give shots,so I have no problem taking them..and have many times..oh well I love everything about the hardcore scene, the music ,the ppl,the pits..I have nothing to complain about, but what I'll say is these shows aren't for the weak..be prepared toget knocked around, kicked down whatever,it's part of the scene...

This is exactly why I think pitters need to be in a closed off section. Again, I have no problem if pitting is someone's thing, go nuts, but there are people who don't enjoy being injured and being required to be in harms way just to enjoy a live show because it is "part of the scene" is simply not right. It is wrong to involve someone in something they don't want to be a part of. That is why I get angry and I why I think pitters need to have their own closed off section. Safety and respect for other patrons. Not a lot to ask, really. How do you think a 120 pound woman is gunna fare when some 280 pound man drags her into the pit? She doesn't stand a chance. What about kids who want to see a show? Should they just not go for fear of being injured? Would you shove a joint in someone's face at a reggae show just because it is "part of the scene"? No, you wouldn't.
I'm out.

Dude I def hear ya man.. I also thnk where the pit winds up being located is also based on the venue. Like you most likely,I have been to many venues..some the size of a studio apartment specifically Satost pary house and been to ones at Madison square garden or Webster hall in NYC or Starland ballroom in NJ,just to name a few . It seems the bigger the venue the pitts seem to wind up in the middle, yet smaller spots in winds up in front. Most hardcore and metal shows are in small reg places,so no matter where u really stand u always have a good view.

So true... Some of the best shows I have been to have been in places where you could walk in the door and see the stage. As long as the pit is righting in front of the stage all is right with the world.

There should be a pit etiquette refresher before every show.
Too many people don't know how to behave.
I used to go to shows, a few metal but majority was Punk.
Over the years it seemed like more of the younger guys had something to prove and had no clue how to mosh/skank...why the elbows, tripping, knees and full body checks?
The skank pit is more fun anyways.
No cheap shots and people dont leave on a stretcher.
Still get banged up pretty good but never crossed a line of intentional assault.
P.S. Madball is the shizz!

Yup,absolutely and it's on the reg..big venues or places don't really throw hardcore shows or metal, the scene is very underground aso most places where they play are small low key joints. Jo matter where I go to a show,I'm also round the Pitt,if not I can always see the show from any angle.
james I agree bro,I'm fine with the pit in front of the stage..if it bothers ya hang at the bar, well if pits bother ya,then find a new scene to go to shows then.
