I concur with this advice. I had a bad experience transporting a snake once and using those stupid hand warmers from Walmart. I had it wrapped and taped in a towel and it still got to hot. DO NOT use those things.

U didn't have it taped and wrapped man,please..I wear them for work,while they get hot they don't get that hot,especially if wrapped an insulated correctly.. Maybe too hot by themselves against a snake. But yeah your full of it man.if u wrapped it In Towels,,towels are thick ,you would never have a problem...

op wrap a bunch up in t shirts secure them good,it's a short travel,u only are using them to let off heat to keep your snakes warm....and to the ppl who swear there so bad,I'll use more common sense,what you can do Is tape them about 3 inches above from where your snakes will lay and tape them around the perimeter. Also keep the heat up in your car..Pythonluvr,I'm sure that's not good either,clown.

Pythonluvr, oh wait I have another genius idea,OP,what u also can do is keep them in a container on the floor in the front of course and turn your heat on so it's blowing out from the feet part,that will keep them very warm as well..

You do not need a heat pack while traveling in a car, unless you don't have heat!
Pack them in a styrofoam shipping box or a styrofoam cooler and you're fine.

You are entitled to your own opinion. Calling me whatever you like shows so much maturity on your behalf. I may be a clown but I am not making up this information. The hand warmer was wrapped in a towel and taped up. It DID get to hot. Tell the OP whatever you want. I don't really give a crap about your advice. Who the hell are you anyways, just some damn newbie spouting off his mouth and lame experience.

I would rather go the route of safety... as long as the car is warm, I would say they should probably be Ok, but... in case of any unforeseen events... I would get the packing warmer

The whole cabin should be heated to somewhat same temperature. Just start and heat the car before putting snakes in. And please think of your and specially their safety and try to buckle or somehow else fix the enclosure in it's place. You don't want everything flying when braking hard if needed.

Uh...I'm personally not traveling over 2 hours in a car where the ambient temperature is comfortable for my snake. 85 to 95 degrees? That's too damned hot for me. If it 'twas me, I'd put my little guy in a temporary tub with newspaper for substrate and I'd use a packing warmer for him. I'd also make sure his tub is secure. That way we can both be comfortable.

This is something I'm actually thinking about preparing. I live in Michigan and the nearest herp vet is about 45 minutes away. I need to be prepared to transport my snake in the event he becomes ill or is injured.

Oh and just an observation of my snake. He seems to like to travel. Specially if held in hands so he can see out.

He's totally relaxed in hands and seems like he is enjoying the view staring out the windows, he's just in his cobra position looking out and not moving most of the ride

Don't worry, your snakes are perfectly fine and comfortable at temps in the mid-60's for short periods of time, you do not need to heat up your car or home to match the temps of your vivarium SUDDEN changes of temperature are not necessarily good which is why an insulated cooler is so handy.
