How old is the child, are you talking about ur little bp that you just posted about? My snakes sit on my sons (5 years old) shoulders and neck. Just use a little common sense, obviously I wouldn't leave him alone with any animal at that age, but with supervision there isn't an issue....

I would say it depends on the child and if the BP is easy to deal with. I personally don't see a problem with it myself. My daughter got her first snake at the age of 8 and she puts it around her neck all the time.

Let me put it this way...I started working in exotics at the age of 11-12 years...first duty at the store: Clean breeder boa cage...even the 9ft female went around my neck when I pulled her to clean the cage. Even an adult ball python is going to find it rather difficult to take down a 5 year old...a big breeder female and a small toddler...maybe but I definitely wouldn't put money on it. I have found my BP to be most comfortable when coiled around my neck and it should not be an issue for any supervised child over 8 years of age. If he does get a bit tight, then simply unravel him tail first...sometimes they tighten a bit for security and/or anxiety from possibility of falling. Hope that helps.

There is always a chance that a snake can strike, any pet can bite. That being said you need to learn to read the snakes body language, has your BP struck before, is it stressed out etc. I really don't see an issue as long as the snake is calm. Handle the snake a little bit yourself and if it is calm and relaxed then it shouldn't be a problem, if it is stressed put it back in its enclosure and try again another day.

I don't see a problem with this as long as you know the snake and it's supervised. I would allow my cb12 on my 6 year old sisters neck as long as I was watching them closely (I haven't yet but I would), Any sign of him fully enclosing around her neck and I would move him.

My two year old plays with my three foot bp all the time. Holds him. Puts him on her shoulders. Is even able to pet his head. It all depends on the snakes temperament and a lot of close supervising. Im always right next to my girl while she holds garfield. Finn on the other hand i wouldn't let her hold cause he can be a little un predictable at times.
