maybe your just weak minded that's what it comes down too...sorry to sound harsh but it's the truth
Because that's totally how addiction works. Its totally not a mental thing, just a physical response. Yup.
Not. Please go educate yourself on what being an addict is. If you were able to quit cold turkey with no outside help, you may not have been 'addicted'. Some people can smoke for years without it being a psychological addiction. I'm one of them- I smoke when I drink, or when I'm highly stressed and its either that or hurt myself, and I smoke hookah with my roommates. I can go months at a time without smoking, so no its not an addiction for me. It is a bad habit and I'm trying to turn some of them (especially the self destructive smoking, even though its saved me a few nights) into healthier avenues. But not an addiction. They are two very different things and before you start talking about will power, learn the difference.
And good luck to the rest of you. as I said above, I'm not in the same boat but I've seen my dad bounce on and off the wagon so I know it can be tough. You guys can do it! I promise

Did you read the whole thread? He's quit cold turkey "a few times" and "only" smokes when he's drunk. He's clearly a mental super power and I can't begrudge him that. I just wish he could be a little more understanding toward those of us who are weak minded.

Oh clearly I guess I forgot to specify addictions vs habits only works for people. Super heroes need not apply

Again maybe it's not my place but maybe seeing how gross it is might help you stop!
Good luck guys, wishing you all the best xx

We (smokers) all know what it's doing to us and I think most of us do care, but I do think we've become a little desensitized to the warnings because there are so many of them so often. But you're right, it's a pretty gross habit! That's not news to any of us.
Reminds me of the Dennis Leary show back in the early 90's. One little part of it:
------------
It doesn't matter how big the warnings on the cigarettes are; you could have a black pack, with a skull and crossbones on the front, called TUMORS, and smokers would be around the block going, "I can't wait to get my hands on these *bleeping* things!
------------
It is okay to use pine bedding for snakes.
It is okay to feed live food to snakes.

Keep a pic of the most expensive snake you want and do not yet have in with your cigars/cigarettes and just think every one you have could be going toward that dream acquisition.
Face it, as a group with an addiction to herps we may just have it easier than the general population by being able to substitute "rewards". Then it becomes a game of delayed gratification.
