Question about the size of my female royal ball python!

She is in a 36'' x 18'' x 12'' Terrarium (equivelent to about a 40 gallon tank) and is currently about 507 grams. How big will she get? Is this adequate housing for her? Does the size of the snakes environment determine the size she will get?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,

The size of the tank has no effect on how large they will get.

Your current sized setup will do her for quite a while ( probably 2-3 years ) but some girls do get large enough that a 4 footer is a better fit.

They normally end up between 4.5 to 6 foot with 5.5 being about average I think.

Ball pythons will max out at anywhere from 3 to 5 feet (1 to 1.52 meters) and from 1,200 to 3,000 grams. Exceptionally large specimens can be bigger.
I don't think even fish can be determined to grow depending on aquarium size. I believe that's a stupid myth based off of petri dishes and cell growth. If anything, your ball python may become a reluctant eater(therefor smaller) if you keep her in a huge terrarium and not provide her with a comfortable living space. To determine what is adequate housing, we must know how your viv is set up, but a proper setup contains two hiding spots, sufficient heating and temperature gradient, appropriate substrate, and a source of water. Food must be provided at appropriate times, which is about once a week, give or take a few days.
