Is Tali stressed? Or am I having Mom syndrome?
So, in the last few weeks I've made a few upgrades for Tali. One, I put her in a larger tank in a new part of my room. Last week, I bought a slim lamp for her tank... it was hard to see one of the thermometers, and I was hoping it'd heat the tank a little so I wouldn't have to run my space heater full blast 24/7 (what I needed to get her tank at the right temp- my room is COLD). And it's worked from what I've seen, the tank feels warmer when I've picked her up or filled water.
New tank is by my TV so I spend a bit of time in front of the tank. Tali has gotten into the habit of 'sitting' by her doors a lot when I'm sitting in my chair, or coming out when I'm in that corner of my room getting dressed (my dresser is on the other side).
Since I got the light, she's much more active and strolls around the tank and checks things out, does the 'sit and watch mom' behavior more. She hasn't hissed, or acted negatively and still uses her hide- I just see her way more often then I used to. She's eaten since I got the new tank, but not since the light.
^editting to add, she hasn't eaten since the light because feeding day hasn't come around since I got the light- I got it tuesday, she eats sunday. sorry! weird phrasing.
Is she just warmer thus, more active with the light? Her hot spot is around 89.2-91. With the light, the tank stays at about... idk. 85-87. If it's off, it's closer to 70-75. I don't want to be stressing her out with the light

The noise from the TV and the light may very well be stressing her out quite a bit. BPs like quiet places

Yeah, I was wondering. I try to keep it down for her (and roommates), but its still audible. I'll figure out a place to move it soon and see if that fixes it.:/ (which will be interesting... I'm running out of outlets! xD) She does it without the tv being on as well- if you sit in that chair, she comes out before too long. Or if you go to the dresser, she normally sticks her head out.

I've been wondering something similar, Magnus has been much more active recently, primarily at night. There have been no major changes to his husbandry technique, but he's able to climb up his vines to reach the top of the tank now, and it's all he does at night. He camps out day and night for a few days after a meal, then he's at it again after he evacuates. Hotspot is 90, cool side 78-80, has been this way since I got him. Great about mealtimes too, never skips and actually ate two 50g rats last Sunday, so I can hardly believe he's hungry again already.
Hope I'm not hijacking the thread OP, just experiencing similar behaviors. If I recall, our animals are about the same size too, although there's a 6-month difference in age.
I should add that I don't have a TV or radio going at night, just a light beside my bed that stays on until I'm ready to sleep. The room is generally silent, just the sound of his nightly excursions to the ceiling of his tank.
If he's awake during the day and spots movement outside his hide, he'll poke out to see what's up, too.
Sent from my cool hide
