They are illegal in some states because as exotic animals that can multiply fast, they can supposedly do a lot of damage to the native ecosystem and agriculture......Supposedly....

I have no idea why they would worry about this in New Hampshire. ASF are from the same areas as BP's. They'd never survive the cold there. But they seldom use real facts when making laws. The invasive species status of Burms is partly based on the assumption they could someday inhabit southern Ohio.
