Just weighted my BP, few questions
So I finally went out and bought a food scale (for myself) but figured I can use it for snake too. Well he/she just ate a large frozen mouse from petsmart and I weighted the BP at 469g. With that weight should I be sticking with a large mouse or go up to a rat? The BP is in a 20g long but will be hopefully changing his home to a animal plastic home. With knowing that weight is there a way to tell what size hide the snake should have? I believe the hides that are in there are way to big, and I'm not sure if that is good or not? Last question I feed once a week is that good? Any help I highly appreciate!

A snake of that weight I would be feeding a small rat. As for hides, the rule is a snug one. If you get a hide that's too big, crumpled up paper inside can help the snake feel more secure. Once a week is just fine Especially if you move up to small rats. I like to take it slow sometimes with my snakes.

My BP is only a littler bigger then yours (520g 2 weeks ago) and her last feeding she took a 100g small rat. That's bigger then I wanted by a little bit but its the smallest I could find with out going to pinkies. She ate it just fine. In about 6 hours I will be feeding her again and its another 100g rat on the menu. Where I live its hard to find anything but small mice, pinkies and large adult rats. I feed P/K because I usually need to buy smaller feeders and grow them for a couple weeks to get them up to size.
My BP always liked the smallest hide she could squeeze into. Now she is in a tub with out a "hide". But she has about 2 inches of aspen and some fake plants that she gets under and piles up the aspen around her on her hot side. So it looks like a perfectly round clearing in the tub with a BP curled up in it

Thanks guys! I will getting small rats this weekend to feed him during week.
Question on hide, what kind of spray paint is safe for snakes? Found some hides I like but hate color so was going paint them black so its dark for the snake.

I don't buy pinkies. But I have bought small rats that are 30/50 grams under what i want (about 100g or a little bigger at this point) just because its all I could find in my area and I keep a couple in a 10g tank or critter keeper and feed them till they are where I need them. Then on feeding day pull the one that's the right size, dispatch it, and feed it to my girl.
Where I live I can't be to picky sometimes, not many rat breeders here and usually they want to hold on to them till their full grown to maximize their profits.

If people reading my comment have seen others from me talking about feeding live I switch to P/K because I'm afraid of the bigger rats causing injury during feeding.
