    ....pet rat

Lol well I got Clyde dinner last Friday, and, he refused to eat it. I felt bad for the rat being in a little box with no food or water, so, I bought him a little cage, food, hide, and water bottle so I could keep him comfortable until tomorrow (feeding day). But during the last week I have spent a lot of time with the little guy and have gotten attached to him lol. So tomorrow I will be buying a new rat for Clyde's dinner and Greg (my daughter insisted on naming him that) will get to spend the rest of his life as a happy pet rat ha has this ever happened to anyone else? I never thought of a rat as a potential cool pet, but Greg, is awesome!

I had this happen with my kingsnakes dinner when I was younger. She wouldn't eat it so we kept it in a little tank and I named him Jerry. He was the fattest and happiest little mouse I've ever known. Very friendly and loved to create little nests of shredded newspaper. Spoiled and happy mouse he was.

Rats are great pets...you'll have lots of fun with Greg (cool name BTW).
Hopefully you won't end up building a colony this way...

I know this would happen to me 100% if I had to feed live. Which is why I do frozen/thawed. I get attached to things easily.

To be honest I've always been more scared of rats then snakes, but I just got curious if he would let me hold him, and when he seemed to love being out and playing we instantly became friends lol even my wife loves him and she was terrified of them like me until we got him!

Well it's never too late to try and convert them over it's tough though! Im trying to get one that's been fed live to eat f/t but I think he's beginning to cave. It's a lot more convenient. I know if I fed live I'd end up having a pet rat colony.

You could always use it as an excuse to get more snakes...
