Animal Planet: 'Surprisingly The Humane Society'
I'm sure some of you have already figured this, but if not, it appears that Animal Planet and HSUS are deeply connected. It would explain the anti-exotics shows, such as Fatal Attractions, that make our hobby seem like a nightmare. It would also mean that shows like Too Cute! could be there just to suck in viewers and generate ad revenue for more lawyers.
Now call me a conspiracy theorist, but that would mean that Animal Planet could just be HSUS's propaganda network, if not just one of their "butt buddies" in Hollywood.
To go further, some googling popped up some interesting results.
HumaneWatch on the record: http://www.humanewatch.org/animal_pl...newatch_recap/
This is obviously old news to some. According to this 2007 thread from Michigan Sportsman, word was that Animal Planet is property of the Humane Bunghole of the United States: http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/fo...ndard&dom_id=0
Aw, how cute! Animal Planet gave their pals at HSUS their very own starring role: http://www.humanesociety.org/about/d...es_120309.html
To say the least, they most definitely are partners: http://animal.discovery.com/helping-pets/roar/hsus.htm
Edit: Nothing like digging in BP.net's very own archives: http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...al-Planet-HSUS

Though I may agree with the sentiment of the above post, I would think it would be ill-advised to get into the name calling aspect of things....this would just give the HSUS another point to say against snake owners: "they are just a bunch of anti-establishment name-calling weirdos who can't have normal pets like the rest of us".
I know that Bunghole is an actual word for wine casks, so I'm not calling that into question

Unless I'm running my very own lobby or campaign against them, which I'm not, it isn't a reason for concern, nor is it the point behind this thread. I'm just another average Joe on just another internet forum. There have been many things said by those upset by the organization, many of which are much uglier than making a mock of their name, and on one or two occasions, they have taken notice of the flame wars against them. My silly mockery, however, is but a mere sizzle in comparison.
That all said, onward with the main point! I will continue to research the subject at hand and post more links as I find them. (And in a more professional manner, to assure you.)
