Putting my 8-1/4' female in that big tank is even a pain lol. Nearly 18lbs doesn't sound like much, and I lift 150-200lb pieces of steel all day at work but it's different to gently set something you care about, that doesn't want down, into an enclosure lol.Originally Posted by Evenstar
Quite awhile. And please do not overfeed! Go small and slow with prey size - these are NOT ball pythons. Feed only one prey once every 7-10 days. Even brand new babies do well on this schedule. And choose a prey item that does not leave a noticeable lump. I start my babies off on mouse fuzzies.
I don't like tanks either. Partly because maintaining heat and humidity is a pain, but also because it is hard to provide privacy for your snake. But the biggest reason is this: Have you ever tried to put a nearly fully grown boa constrictor DOWN into a tank??? You will never try again. Front opening enclosures are a God-send for a snake that doesn't like to go back in. Just sayin'.....
My 7ft anery girl is only 12lbs and it's def a pain to set her "down" into my big glass tank.
