How often do bp's shed
I bought a female bp off Craig's list on 7/9/13 she shed on 7/24/13. The person I bought her from fed her one mouse a month, this bp is about 3.5 years old she was a bit under weight when I got her. However I got her to eat rats, which I'am feeding her once a week. She is doing fine and appears to be gaining weight.I can no longer see her spine. She has started to get that pink color to her stomach again, could she be ready to she'd again already ? Has the change in feeding making her grow that fast. So my final question is what is the normal time frame for Bp's to shed under ideal conditions? Thanks for your help.

When BP's are young, they tend to shed every 4-6 weeks. Once they are adults they will only shed a few times a year. That said a BP will shed after sudden weight gain, or injury as needed.

A 3,5 year old female, fed 1 mouse every month. I'm glad you take care of her now anyway.

Thank god you own that snake now. I'd say it I rapid weight gain. I had the same situation with an under weight snake she has shed 2 times in the past 4 months.

I have one like this too. I got my normal on June 27th. She was just finishing shedding when I got her. They were also feeding her once to maybe twice a month. I started feeding her small rats weekly and she's now in shed again. Sounds like your BP is doing very well under your care now. Congrats!

I've noticed that it seems like every time I get a new snake in, they're in shed the next week. That said, sheds can be triggered by stress, weight gain, injury... just because the snake feels like shedding to make you worry...

Re: How often do bp's shed
I got my hatchling on June 8th of this year... couldn't get her to eat and did loose a little weight. I ended up having to go with live... which isn't a problem for me... my question is...
Is it Ok that she hasn't shed once since I've had her?
She put weight back on and looks good again, she now gets a live hopper mouse every 5 days.

She's certainly due. Maybe it's time to increase the size of the rodents you are feeding?
