Didn't even finish reading the post. You're becoming a father, you have a baby on the way. You do NOT need something with more power underneath the hood. You don't need to worry about speed. I don't even care if the kid isn't in the car. You do something dumb speeding and angela will be left as a single mom. You should be concerned about the safety rating for your kid. Also, you're gunna want cargo space for strollers, diaper bags, pack n play (if you go on vacation thats what they sleep in and those are pretty big) etc. You want great gas mileage to be saving money. Kids are expensive so most likely this will be the car you own for like 10+ years. When the kids into sports and you have to haul around all their sports n school crap and their friends crap then you won't be able to in a civic. When you're not a parent you don't think about a lot of the little things that could make your life easier. Bending down to get a baby out of the car is fine when they're young. Once they start getting heavier its a pain in the ass lol. An xb is up higher so you're not bending over to get the car seat out. Another example that comes to mind is it's ideal to have multiple diaper bags so you don't have to haul the same one around everywhere. Idk how big a civics trunk is but i know the xb has plenty of room to keep a spare one in. Just crap like that adds up.
Tbh, if i were you, i'd be looking at subaru foresters. Same size and space as an xb but you have the AWD for the snow in the winter. I know you guys get a lot of snow in Upstate NY and my subie is a tank in the snow
I really don't care if that came off as harsh. In fact i hope it kinda did to make you really think hard.
EDIT: wow just read the rest of it and all of the responses. Maybe i'm in the wrong here but i don't think sports cars and babies mix. Just my opinion i guess....
Yes I agree, disregard everything I said, get something safe!
I don't have any kids on the way nor do I see that day coming any time soon, so I like to toy around with my car, but the day that happens is the day I will be looking for a Volvo due to their outstanding safety rating lol :hiding:

You should mod the 08 Si then you'll see :highfive:
Don't get me wrong I love to see an older Honda running good times. Respect the elders. Lol

I wrecked my first car. It was an '88 corolla and I rear ended an '04 volvo sedan. (Yes i was following too closely but she didn't use a turn signal. Lesson learned :p). My car was totaled. Her freaking taillight had a crack in it. The paint on her car didn't even chip, just scuffed. The swedes don't build cars, those things are tanks! Lmao.

Looked at the xbs for the wife and ended up with a low mileage Honda element..She loves it, has a solid ride, plenty of pep, a ton of room inside, elevated back seats, No carpet so its easy to clean.. The stock stereo booms..They stopped production in 2011, their a bit funky looking and turn heads, the suicide doors are not common and allows for big items to be loaded..A great ride all in all..just a thought..
PS..
If you have an active lifestyle and haul pets or critters around it was voted the dogs best ride..

Lol I'd love to but I made a promise to my husband I wouldn't spend any major money on the cars anymore and it is my daily driver... Gotta keep the toys and daily drivers separate. And I'm trying to talk my dad into giving me his 76 camaro to restore. Been sitting at our shop for 15 years going to waste. Really want to dump some money into that beauty.

Elements are really nice. My dads company bought them for all the tech guys. They're all well over 200K miles, some over 300K, and running strong with just regular maintenance. The floors are all rubber like you said so when junior spills food in there it'd be super easy to clean.

I really like the element they are pretty unique looking and cool, but I only really like the "sc" version, because you don't get that two tone, with paint and plastic, the sc is all one color.
