Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
Female 65 Grams. Bought her from Outback Reptiles. They said she was eating live hoppers. Anyways she's in a divided C Serpents Sub Adult Rack. Hot side 90-92 / Cool side 80-82 / Humidity 50-60 % depending on the time of day. I've tried live and frozen thawed mice and rats during the day and at night but she honestly seems to care less about them. She shows absolutely no interest at all. I've placed her in a small enclosure with a live fuzzy and all she tries to do is escape. I've left a frozen thawed in her tub over night and nothing. At night she's very active roaming her tub but lately she's been roaming her tub during the day to. I've had her for about 6 weeks now. Last week I assist fed a fuzzy mouse. Today I tried to assist feed again and she wouldn't take it. She hasn't lost any weight since I got her, I just want her to start eating.
I was just curious if anyone else had any other ideas on how I can get her to start eating. Thanks for any help.

Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
Being patient is wut has worked for me, whenever my boy decides he doesn't want to eat I jus dont bother him for any reason for 7 days then try again. The snake will eat eventually jus can't keep offering all the time, every 7 days, my advice.

I usually keep my hatchlings at a lower temp. Hot spot no higher than 88. Also have you tried waiting 10 days between feeding attempts? Sometimes if you wait a little longer they will take quicker. Also try different options of food if you haven't already such as rat pinks, hoppers, mouse pinks and fuzzies. Also might want to add crumpled up newspaper to help him feel more secure.
Good luck!

Re: Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
Yeah I've been waiting a week each attempt. I have Albino & Pied babies that are eating like beasts. Guess I'll just keep trying once a week and see what happens. As long as she isn't losing weight I'm not too worried. Her tub has a divider so it's quite small and the only contact I have with her is when I'm changing her water. Hopefully sooner than later she'll take a meal. It just kind of bothers me when the dealer's post said she's pounding hopper mice and I get no luck at all. Then you call the dealer and find out they received her after her first shed. Who knows if she's ever had a meal outside the egg besides the fuzzy I assist fed her. Anyways thanks for the advice.

A lot of dishonest people in the reptile game it seems. Stick to trustworthy people with a good rep to boot. I would be frustrated to find out this after I got it. Hope she eats for ya soon

Re: Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
Yeah I took my chances. I heard good and bad things about Outback Reptiles. At least they attend shows close to my area so if something happens I plan on attending. I'll be calling them again soon if she doesn't start to take food. I'm in college so the money I spent is a bit much to just throw down the drain. Thanks everyone.

Re: Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
hasn't eaten for you in 6 weeks, need to call outback and let them know she's still not feeding. most hatchlings from breeders are kept in a 6 qt size tub. most likely feed in the same tub that they are kept in. can you post a pic of your snake? not losing weight is good, but if the snake is getting longer and not gaining weight can be an issue. your snake is roaming, can be roaming cause it's stress. might want to crumble up some newspapers to add in the tub and help the snake feel more secure. or put into a smaller tub.

She needs to go back into a very small enclosure to feel safe enough to eat.
Good luck.

Just so we're clear she hasn't lost any weight. So whats the problem? I've got a hatching that has only eaten once since she hatched, If they are stressed or there is something a miss with her environment they wont feed. I just looked at the rack you're using and even cut in half it's bigger than even I would try and start a new baby out in. My suggestion use a smaller tub (darker tub), offer a hide, and forget about feeding for at least 7-10 days. Don't offer, don't look, don't take pics, open the tub to makes sure its still alive at night, check water. Other than that nothing, then after ten days offer a smaller (live) meal than what you were and leave it over night mice and rats that small pose no threat to your snake so don't worry.

Re: Bumblebee Hatchling Not Feeding
Finally, she ate! Don't have to stress it anymore. Bought a 6 Quart Tub, tossed a hide and a little water dish in there and put the whole thing back inside my rack. Thawed out a rat pup pink and left it right outside her hide. Looked in an hour later and the rat was gone. Such a huge weight off my shoulders. Thanks for the information to those who posted. Much appreciated. One less thing to worry about. Next my 65 Gram Pied Female who just came in Tuesday. Thanks again!
