Light and my ball python

Ok so I have a baby ball python that I have hade for around 2 months now. I was reading somewhere that people don't have light on there tanks. My ball is in a rubber made till he's big enough for a permanent home. My question is do I need a light for him. I have a UTH goin that keeps my temps where I want them. However I work graveyard and have Blacked out my windows with tinfoil and blankets covering the tinfoil. There is almost zero light that comes in my room so I can sleep better during the day. Should I invest in a light so he has some day night cycle.He appears healthy hasn't missed a feed since I got him. He even ate yesterday(he is going into shed dull skin blue eyes ect) should I worry or should he be ok until I get on 2nd shift.

this is only my opinion, not based on any scientific facts but all living creatures should have a day and night cycle. many creatures in nature use light cycles to regulate growth via seasonal and day and night exposures. to me the cost of a light and a timer are not worth the risk!

I was thinking the same I'm worried about a lamp melting my tub I was think of getting a red bulb anyways so I might just get one of each and put them on timers

if you have your temps and humidity correct using a UTH then there would be no need for a red heat lamp. I would use a small compact fluorescent lamp placed on top of the rubbermaid container. It should not get hot enough to pose any problems. Hot lamps and plastic are a recipe for disaster!!!

Ok seems simple enough simple lamp should be good enough then might even have one laying around. Don't want to spend a whole lot of $ as this is his temp set up I'm getting married in a year and will be moving about that time he should be big enough for a permanent terrarium

You can get LED strips from Lowes for around 30 bucks (thats what I paid for mine about a month ago) those will never get hot enough to melt plastic

I might get a lamp that puts off a little heat for the cool side right now it runs between 70-80 normally sticks about. 75. I don't like how much play the temp has. It's normally about 75 but if we open the windows and turn off the air it jumps to 80 as well as if the air is running hard it will drop to 70 for a short period of time I don't like when it drops but if I touch the a/c my mom flips :cens0r::cens0r::cens0r::cens0r: about how hot is. But realy she's just having hot flashes
