It's just how the artists choose to express themselves.

You don't like rap because they talk about drugs, sex, money and killing people? The bands you listed all have songs about that stuff. I saw you listed metallica and right off the bat "master of puppets" comes to mind... Hmmmm, what do you think that songs about?! "For whom the bell tolls".... What about that album they had... titled... "Kill Em All".... Lmao

EDIT: curse words offend you? Have you heard "its been awhile" by staind? Oh my all that swearing he does! :o
Every single song isn't about the same thing, or let's say half of them. Country is far from the same thing, yes a lot of it is about love but it takes a hell of a talented person to actually sing then just say random words into a microphone then have a beat added after. Or let's say some rap to a beat playing in their ear. It doesn't qualify as music.

    I mean really:

My lyrics can be hysterics and no I don't need 'em
I take my shoes off my feet but leave the socks on chem
Now that my words rhyme dawg
I'm gon' disappear like dat fog
    cha herd me playa?
I've neva been much of a rava.

Does that make me an artist now because in about a minute I threw rhyming words together? Yerrr I'm "Gangsta"..

Really, who are we kidding here?

    EDIT:
Wait, it's not rap yet, I forgot to curse in it.

    EDIT #2:
Wait, I forgot my teeth. Let me take this aluminum ferl from my gum and wrap my teefh up so I can sport Platinum. Chea. Now I'll twist my hat to the left side between front and all the way left and I'll nod my head and raise one hand point my finger straight up and sway my hand like i'm nailing a hammer. Then to even more effect my gangsta rap I'll bend one knee but instead of bending it straight I'll do the gangsta left bend. Who dat?

    A funny snake rap song

Just because you don't get it doesn't mean it isn't music or the lyrics don't have meaning. It's called symbolism lol...

Also, YOU'RE A HYPOCRITE! Your music has swears, violence, sex and drugs in it too. I just pointed it out. You're talking about rap as a wholeeee genre, by using specific examples. So can i generalize and talk about the music you like in "genre" form too? You like metallica so can i talk about metal in general? Metal is full of sex/drugs/violence/swearing. I could find you thousands of examples lol

I'll cut the crap and say it's all music. Lyrics do not define the type of song; (except religious music) songs are organized into genres based on instruments and styles. My ears are open from heavy metal to electronic to rap.
I do like rap, and I'm an avid listener.
However, with all due respect, this video sucked.

I'm not a hipocrite. I said all rap is about would be the same thing. I know some of the songs talk about stuff like that, but it's not the whole genre. Compare rap to any of the stuff I listed and look at the difference in lyrics. Actually you said the perfect thing Mike, Symbolism, it's what rap stands for that's crap and should be abolished before it does anymore damage to society. At least metal is still an art, and takes talented people to do it, and on top of that at least they can spell. I'm not saying that metallica doesn't have songs about killing, Everlast does too, in the song So Long.

Red Hot Chili Peppers in Under the Bridge is referring to drugs, so is Bush in Come Down as well as others, but at least the way they use doesn't make it sound like garbage.

You can rap without having a curse word every 5 words, and you could rap without having your pants halfway down your legs and without having all fake teeth, 28" rims, walking around with guns, talking with ignorance and being a "symbol" that turns that genre into garbage. Look at the difference between the people who are the face of rap now versus the 90's. I wouldn't of called it crap or garbage in the 90's. Yes, it wasn't the best, but it wasn't garbage. Vanilla Ice was rapping in what year was it, 80 something?

    A funny snake rap song

I've already stated that I can't help it if you don't understand the symbolism lol. Just because you don't get it, doesn't mean millions of other people don't. So the way rappers present themselves bothers/offends you too? Is that what it's really about? Pants around their ankles? At least they wear pants! When the RHCP wore only socks on their doodles i found that performance to be pretty offensive!

Don't like the fact that rappers don't spell correctly? Have you read the names of some of the RHCP's albums?
    Freaky Styley
    Blood Sugar Sex Magik

    Stadium Arcadium

Since you're using such specific examples with rap i'll use the example of Kid Cudi making a whole album with no swears in it. WZRD. Peaked at #3 on the billboard top 100. Rapper, whole album, no swears...

I've disproved literally every excuse for hating on the genre that you've come up with. Your argument is invalid.

He doesn't like that because "nothin'" isn't a real word. Real stuff uses real words. Also in bambi they kill bambis mom. No violence for Neal either!

You haven't disproved anything Mike. I never said every single person was perfect. Hell, you can even base it off 75% of the people in the genre. Music is an art, rap is not an artist and if you want to consider it an art then that's on you. With that being said, my little "rap" I did in a minute makes me an artist since I made it up all by myself and I can sing it too, and add a pencil and tap a little beat on it. The truth is that didn't make me an artist, because it was pure garbage, exactly what 99.9% of rap is. I'm not saying they don't have a few decent people in that genre, but the genre is general is junk, garbage, sounds like crap. Do I like the way that they portray themselves? No. I first off didn't even know about RCHP and the sock thing, but is that how they walk around all the time? Nope. But can you guess what genre 99.9% of the so called "artists" do? I'll give you a hint, 3 letters and one is a vowel. I don't know who Kid Cudi is or WZRD, because I don't like rap and what it stands for.

Look at the people who listen to the type of music, then compare it to how they act. Now ask anybody on here what they associate with the word: Alternative. Then Heavy Metal. Then Country. Then Techno. Then Rap.

It's all what the genre stands for. Sure each of them all have the bad, but let's compare percentages here?

    A funny snake rap song

Ignorance isn't an excuse. Once you figure that out it'll open a wholeeeee new world of opportunities and new experiences for you lol.

I'm a metal head but if you saw me you wouldn't necessarily know that. Well, maybe you would, since apparently you know everything there is to know about anything.

Ok i'm done. Pretty sure i've already thoroughly destroyed your argument and now your grasping at anything here lol...
