Updated Pro-Line cage photos.
This is somewhat old news, but with the new camera I have some better pictures of the enclosure. Some have asked about lighting, vents and interior so I'll post up again. I like photos and like seeing everybody else's setups so,, enjoy or ignore if you're sick of seeing my cage.
The enclosure is a Pro-Line 48" x 23" x 14" size. I have 3 perches. 2 are natural, lower and curved. 1 is bamboo, level, and higher up. There is a lot of clutter due to my young boa's age. 1 year June 27th. He's about 3 1/2 feet long right now.
Here it is with the strip LED light on from Home Depot. It's mounted to the ceiling and the cord runs out the back vent on the right along with the Herpstat probe coming in through the same vent. The room lights are on as well.

This is the interior. I have a huge thermometer on the left. It gives me humidity on both sides of the cage and temps. I also get the date, time, moon phase and high/low temps for the day. Overkill, but its a remote/cordless device. I like it.
The hot side is on the left. The snake uses both sides equally which is a very good sign.
If you look at the ceiling in this picture you can see the heat panel, the strip LED light, and the Arcadia Moonlight LED light.

I shot with the lights in the room at different settings. Basically it just shows how nice a display type cage can look.

Lights off with white cage light on.

This is the fun stuff. I LOVE going into the room before total lights out. I use 3-4 hours of moon light before it's time to black out.

The snake really likes to move and groove in the moon light. Here he is emerging from the substrate.

I use a night drop for temps. I've done some extensive reading and have really enjoyed Gus Rentfro's practices for raising boas. The Herpstat 1 I use drops my temps a couple of degrees at night and then ramps them up in the mornings. The only thing I need to do is set light timers so I don't have to do it myself.

I did insulate the bottom of the enclosure with 1 inch styrofoam wrapped with Reflectix insulation. I did this to the top and back of the cage as well. This is NOT required, but my basement has arguably colder temps in the summer because of the AC. Even if I block the AC vents the cold air falls. I'd rather make the battle for heat as easy as I can.
I'm happy to answer questions any time. Keep in mind I have only 2 snakes and that makes a display setup a lot easier. Evanstar (Kali) and a lot of others have multiple snakes and efficient setups are an easier option.
Thanks for looking.

Very cool write up Gio!! I really like how you did the cage. I would so do this for my guys if I had the room. One day, my snake room will be finished and everyone CAN move into their full-size cages! Doubt they'll be quite this nice inside, but there'll be some climbing branches and stuff for sure.
PS.... I am in love with your camera.

Well thank you. I guess one good thing about 2 snakes is I can dump all my efforts into the two I have. Though I must say the Royal is driving totally nuts. Still not eating and I think I may have to drop down the prey size and maybe try 1 live feeding. She shed 2 days ago and I thought for sure she'd eat.
The boa is digesting now so I'm wishing I had 1 more.
I want a Peruvian BCC I think. It won't happen, but I think it's my favorite BCC and they are not regurge prone or as sensitive to husbandry according to Rentfro.
The camera is really pleasing. Probably the last camera we'll own. I think a simple yet expensive upgrade would be the Zeiss lens kits.
The only changes this cage will see is the removal of two of the 4 hides to make space.

I'm leaning towards the Bolivian Silverback BCCs myself - also not quite as prone to the regurge issues. I'd like a pair of them - and a Guyana with a major tail just for kicks....

Not sure if you've looked into BCAs at all But Tom McCarthy (McCarthy Boas) has some nice ones, and he's a really nice guy!
You should probably have a BCA too LOL!!

Re: Updated Pro-Line cage photos.
Gio,
Cool thread/pics/enclosure. A few questions:
What wattage RHP do you have in this enclosure? Did it come with the enclosure? I assume it was extra? I'm looking on the pro-line site and don't see details of what may/may not come with their enclosures or an accessories tab/link. I'm doing some comparing of what I have with what is around. I may make some caging changes.

Re: Updated Pro-Line cage photos.
I was thinking an 80 would be about right. Thank you for responding.

80 watt is what RBI recommends for a 4x2 that is taller than a foot or for use in cooler climates.

Re: Updated Pro-Line cage photos.
Hola, sorry I can't remember off the top of my head. It may be an 85-95 watt. Bob at Pro-Products asks a shat load of questions and then tells you the best panel. Ed will set you up with the cage and the shipping. The cage lock was $8, the 3 sets of perch holders were $15. I think the whole cage delivered was $263 exactly. The heat panel was $95 and paid separately to Bob. The Herpstat was whatever the Herp I costs.
If you get an 18" cage from Ed he has some seriously cool cage background inserts.
AP's T-8 was not a lot less when shipping was factored in, and I wanted something taller that 12".
AP's T-10 was more after getting the extras and I just simply think the Pro-Line plastic is the best.
AP has some beautiful stuff and for people who like the sliding doors (I'm not one of them) they are great. Also AP is thicker than Boaphile.
Its all about what you like. I can't say enough about the HEAVY DUTY plastic hinges on the Pro-Lines. No rust, no squeaks and tough as nails.
There are a lot of ways to do this so just because I have strong opinions doesn't mean its the right way LOL!
I'm incredibly happy with my setup and snake.
If we all did the same thing, it would be boring looking at other cages LOL!!
I did put a jungle vine around that bamboo perch so it looks even more awesome now!!
