Just another reason why very few people have actually seen my collection.

I'm feeling hopeful, mainly because of the messy job these guys did in getting out of there. The article said that the police took casts of both the muddy footprints and tire tracks leading away from the property toward a gas station. Hopefully they let that messy trail lead straight to the place they've hunkered down.

I believe the police will only be able to figure out the shoe size, possible make (from the sole pattern) and weight of the perpetrators from the depth of the shoe tracks. And the tire tracks may only give them a tire size/brand from the tread, which they will be able to use to compile a list of possible vehicles used. While it is a bit of help, it may get the police no closer to finding any suspects All we can do is hope for the best.

You are correct. The tracks (both shoe & tire) are only circumstantial evidence & can only be helpful if there is actually a suspect(s). However, fingerprints are a whole different story.

Just terrible. I hope they find prints. I was robbed a few years ago by what turned out to be a co-worker of mine that I'd known since childhood. It was for drug money. It really stings when it's someone you've known and liked for years...

I'll certainly be keeping an eye on craigslist and kijiji for snakes matching this description.

The thing I fear (and probably the owners fear) is that if word gets out that LOTS of people are looking for these animals, that the thieves will spook and try to dump the animals to cover their tracks. Probably why they are reluctant to release photos.

I feel like a horrible person but the misinformation/inaccurate info in the article itself bothers me more right now than stolen animals....

    Such a pity.

Yes, these people knew exactly what they were doing and took only the snakes that they wanted. Not to sell, but to keep and sell the babies. It was no accident the gravid females were taken. The best hope is that when these creeps go to sell the babies, then someone might get a glimpse of the stolen adults.

It's so terrible. What levels people will stoop to. I get nervous when someone I am not familiar with wants to see my snakes. I tend to only bring out one or at most two and never the valuable ones.
