Cleaning porous decorations

I soak my wood decor in water and bleach, then rinse it a few times and viola! Good to go.

Thanks! I was reading a similar thread where somebody talked about coating porous stuff with some kind of spray varnish like stuff.

This seem like a good idea to you guys? If so, anybody recommend a product?
